Now if any of you know me, or are reading this (thank you by the way!) you know that a big part of me is my sweet tooth. I think it might be my child-self rebelling against the fact that I was born with a dentist for a father and recently I started drinking classic sugary carbonated beverages. Specifically Boylan's cream soda mixed with black cherry. Anyway, Donuts bring me so much joy when baked to perfection and funkily flavored. I have had the pleasure of going to TWO incredible locations for these delectable donuts. These, in my opinion, are the very best. First, we have MONUTS in Durham, NC. New location, incredible product. My goodness, I am lucky because my dear friend Max is the bartender there. Yes, it's a donut BAR. Here are a few pics from my recent excursion. I couldn't have been more pleased, especially with their new flavor of spiced coconut. It added a little something special when paired with the dark chocolate pistachio. Are you dying yet? I am... just thinking about it makes me weep. Other donuts pictured are the Negroni and the hot chocolate. This is not a joke. Coffee was delicious too! www.monutsdonuts.com
A close second to the devastatingly good MONUTS is all the way in Lexington, KY. Here we have the small and unassuming albeit ridiculously yummy North Lime Coffee and Donuts. These donuts come in all shapes and sizes, specifically squares, and they are paired with deliciously local roasted coffee. My favorite "donut" was the Cinna-Monkey- basically a mini pull-apart cinnamon monkey bread that completely rocked my world. The coffee was so good I didn't even have to put lotsa cream and lotsa sugar in it. Enjoy, and turn green with envy. Hey that's a good color for you!
The street art in Lexington, KY made it one of my favorite places to walk around. Hope I get to go back one day!
For your viewing pleasure… here is a complete list of donuts for the day at North Lime. My second favorite was the funnel cake.
